Erik Larsen ~ Founder and President

In 1973 Erik Larsen was hired on at a company that made CL machinery. A few years later he re-entered university to complete a Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering Degree from the University of Washington. Erik Larsen founded LED in late 1981 after graduating in June earlier that year. However, the seeds of making things that worked were sewn much earlier: Erik was raised in his father’s boat factory and marina. Everyone worked hard and learned a lot. Needless to say, the family spent much of their time out on the water cruising and testing new boat models. How does this apply to contact lens manufacturing? The sea is not forgiving; boats must be seaworthy and reliable; the right materials must be used. Sound like any doctors you know?

LED philosophy: Bring good engineering practices to peripheral CL equipment. Stress value through performance, reliability, easy maintenance. Make it fit into existing lab practices. Develop industry changing products from time to time. Respect lab technical expertise.
